Minutes for May 6, 2013 (Organizational Meeting)

The Faculty Senate of Eastern Kentucky University met on Monday, May 6, 2013, in the South Ballroom of the Keen Johnson Building. Senator Pressley called the organizational meeting of the academic year to order at approximately 5:45 p.m.

NEW BUSINESS:

Senate Chair Election.  Senator Pressley was nominated at April's meeting.  Senator Pressley was unanimously elected to serve as chair for the 2013-2014 academic year.

Senate Vice-Chair Election.  Senator Palmer was nominated at April's meeting.  Senator Palmer was unanimously elected to serve as vice-chair for the 2013-2014 academic year. 

Committee Elections

• Elections & University Nominations Committee (3 vacancies)
  Senators Brumfield, Scarambone, and Slusher were nominated and accepted by acclamation.
• Academic Quality Committee (2 vacancies)
  Senators Corley and Lowry were nominated and accepted by acclamation.
• Budget Committee (1 vacancy)
  Senator Givens was nominated and accepted by acclamation.
• Information Technology Committee (2 vacancies)
  Senators Pogatshnik and Shi were nominated and accepted by acclamation.
• Rules Committee (1 vacancy)
  Senator Day was nominated and accepted by acclamation.
• Welfare Committee (2 vacancies)
  Senators Reed and Spigelman were nominated and accepted by acclamation.
• COSFL (1 rep & 2 alternates needed)
  Senators Adams, Kopacz, and Scarambone were nominated. Senator Scarambone was elected to serve as the COSFL representative, with Senators Adams and Kopacz elected to serve as alternates.

ADJOURNMENT

The meeting adjourned at approximately 6:25 p.m.
