Minutes for May 2, 2022 (Organizational Meeting)

The Faculty Senate of Eastern Kentucky University met remotely on Monday, May 2, 2022, via Zoom. Chair Crosby called the organizational meeting to order at approximately 4:50 p.m. 

The following members were absent: J. Brent*, A. Burns, D. Bussan, B. Shi, M. Henton, C. Hughes*, A. Lawson, E. Stevenson, J. Mayer, J. McCardle, B. McClanahan, J. Keller*^, V. Thomas, E. Underwood

* Denotes prior noticiation of absence
^ ALT Gerald Nachtwey attended for J. Keller

NEW BUSINESS:

Senate Chair Election.  Senator Crosby was nominated at the April meeting and elected today to serve as chair for the 2022-2023 academic year. Motion carried.

Senate Vice-Chair Election.  Senator Kay was nominated at the April meeting and elected today to serve as vice chair for the 2022-2023 academic year. Motion carried.

Committee Elections

  • Academic Quality Committee (0 vacancies)
     
  • Board of Governors (2 vacancies)

    Postponed until September

  • Budget Committee (1 vacancy)

    Senators Feltus and Yow self-nominated.  Senator Yow was elected to fill the vacancy.

  • Elections & University Nominations Committee (3 vacancies)

    Senators Feltus and Kelly self nominated.

    Senator Winslow moved to accept by acclamation, seconded by Senator Cizmar.  Motion carried unanimously.

    The election for the third position was postponed until September.

  • Executive Committee (2 vacancies)

    Senator Jones nominated Senator Johnson and Senator Shaffer self nominated.

    Senator Winslow moved to accept by acclamation, seconded by Senator Manning. Motion carried unanimously.

  • Faculty Rights & Responsibilities Committee (1 vacancy)

    Senator Kay nominated Senator Fry.

    Senator Winslow moved to accept by acclamation, seconded by Senator Manning. Motion carried unanimously.

  • Faculty Welfare Committee (1 vacancy)

    Senators L. Cormier, McGlown, and Sexten self nominated.

    Senator Walz moved to close nominations, seconded by Senator Cizmar.

    Senator McGlown was elected to fill the vacancy.

    Senators Foltz, Fry and Winslow self nominated.

    Senator Manning moved to accept by acclamation, seconded by Senator Cizmar. Motion carried unanimously.  

  • Rules Committee (0 vacancies)

     

  • COSFL (1 rep & 2 alternates needed)

    Senators Cizmar, Feltus, and Price self nominated.

    Senator Cizmar was elected to serve as the COSFL representative with Senators Feltus and Price serving as alternates.

Senator Kelley moved to adjourn at appoximately 5:50 p.m., seconded by Senator Price.
