Minutes for September 14, 2020 (Organizational Meeting)

The Faculty Senate of Eastern Kentucky University met remotely on Monday, September 14, 2020, via Zoom. Senate Chair Ciocca called the organizational meeting to order at approximately 3:30 p.m.

The following members were absent: A. Gossage, E. Meiners

NEW BUSINESS:

Senate Chair Election.  Senator Ciocca was nominated at the April meeting and elected today to serve as chair for the 2020-2021 academic year.  (YES = 52 votes | NO = 0 votes | ABSTAIN = 0 votes) (See also:  Individual Votes)

Senate Vice-Chair Election.  Senator Crosby was nominated at the April meeting and elected today to serve as vice chair for the 2020-2021 academic year. (YES = 52 votes | NO = 0 votes | ABSTAIN = 0 votes) (See also:  Individual Votes)

Committee Elections

• Elections & University Nominations Committee (0 vacancies)
   
• Academic Quality Committee (3 vacancies)

  Senators Blair, Burns, and Cizmar self-nominated.

  Senator Bishop Ross moved to suspend the rules and accept by acclamation, seconded by Senator Styers. Motion carried unanimously.

• Board of Governors (3 vacancies [2 three-year terms and 1 one-year term])

  Senator Jarvis self-nominated for the one year term. Senators McGlown and Cizmar self-nominated for the three-year terms.

  Senator Crosby moved to suspend the rules and accept by acclamation, seconded by Senator Burns. Motion carried unanimously.

• Budget Committee (2 vacancies)

  Senators Weise and Yow self-nominated.

  Senator Walz moved to suspend the rules and accept by acclamation, seconded by Senator Woodruff. Motion carried unanimously.

• Executive Committee (3 vacancies)

  Senators Bishop-Ross, Causey-Upton, Hight, and Kay self-nominated.

  Senators Bishop-Ross, Causey-Upton, and Kay were elected to fill the vacancies.

• Faculty Rights & Responsibilities (1 vacancy)

  Senator Walz self-nominated.

  Senator Crosby moved to suspend the rules and accept by acclamation, seconded by Senator Woodruff. Motion carried unanimously.

• Faculty Welfare Committee (1 vacancy)

  Senator Walz self-nominated. Senator Jones nominated Senator Sands.

  Senator Walz was elected to fill the vacancy.

• Information Technology Committee (2 vacancies)

  Senators Hight, Sands, and White self-nominated.

  Senators Hight and White were elected to fill the vacancies.

• Rules Committee (2 vacancies)

  Senators Bishop-Ross and Kay self-nominated.

  Senator Crosby moved to suspend the rules and accept by acclamation, seconded by Senator Woodruff. Motion carried unanimously.

• COSFL (1 rep & 2 alternates needed)
  Chair Ciocca suggested postponing the COSFL election until it can be determined if COSFL is still an active organization.

The meeting adjourned at approximately 4:30 p.m.
