Minutes for May 3, 2010 (Organizational Meeting)
The Faculty Senate of Eastern Kentucky University met on Monday, May 3, 2010, in the South Ballroom in the Keen Johnson Building. Senator Ware called the organizational meeting of the academic year to order at approximately 5:25 p.m.
The following members were absent:

NEW BUSINESS:
- Senate Chair Election
Senator Taylor was nominated for Senate Chair at the April meeting. Senator Taylor was unanimously elected to continue to serve as chair. - Senate Vice Chair Election
Senator Noblitt was nominated for Senate Vice Chair at the April meeting. Senator Noblitt was unanimously elected to serve as vice-chair.
Committee Elections
- Academic Quality Committee - 1 vacancy
Senator Price was nominated. Senator Wray moved to accept by acclamation, seconded by Senator Schmelzer. Motion carried. - Budget Committee - 2 vacancies
Senators Chapman and Biggin were nominated. Senator Hensley moved to accept by acclamation, seconded by Senator Park. Motion carried. - Committee on Committees - 2 vacancies
Senators Rousch and Wang were nominated. Senator Schmelzer moved to accept by acclamation, seconded by Senator Johnson. Motion carried. - Elections Committee - 2 vacancies
Senators Redmond and Nelson were nominated. Senator Johnson moved to accept by acclamation, seconded by Senator Wray. Motion carried. - Executive Committee - 3 vacancies
The following were nominated: 1) Senator Jones; 2) Senator Day; 3) Senator J. Palmer. Senator Frisbie moved to accept by acclamation, seconded by Senator Biggin. Motion carried. - New Senator Orientation - 1 vacancy
Senator Pressley was nominated. Senator Frisbie moved to accept by acclamation, seconded by Senator Walz. Motion carried. - Rights & Responsibilities Committee - 1 vacancy
Senator McKenney was nominated. Senator Frisbie moved to accept by acclamation, seconded by Senator Biggin. Motion carried. - Rules Committee - no vacancies
- Welfare Committee - 3 vacancies
The following were nominated: 1) Senator Bhandari; 2) Senator Eser; 3) Senator DeBolt. Senator Frisbie moved to accept by acclamation, seconded by Senator Biggin. Motion carried. - COSFL Representative - 1 Rep & 2 Alts
The following were nominated: 1) Senator McKenney; 2) Senator Mott; and 3) Senator Pressley. Senator McKenney was elected to serve as the COSFL representative by ballot vote. Senators Mott and Pressley will serve as alternates.

The meeting adjourned at approximately 5:45 p.m.
