Minutes for May 7, 2018 (Organizational Meeting)

The Faculty Senate of Eastern Kentucky University met on Monday, May 7, 2018, in the South Ballroom in the Keen Johnson Building. Senator Winslow called the organizational meeting to order at approximately 5:15 p.m.

The following members were absent: C. Ballinger, A. Braccia, K. Brewer, L. Calderon*, C. Cassidy, R. Crosby*, B. Dyer, E. Eliassen, J. Gershtenson*, T. Marcum, M. Ndinguri, J. Oh, J. Palmer, S. Perez*, T. Randles, M. Tortorici, R. Weise, D. West*, B. Young

NEW BUSINESS:

Senate Chair Election.  Senator Winslow was elected by acclamation to serve as chair for the 2018-2019 academic year.

Senate Vice-Chair Election.  Senator Ciocca was elected by acclamation to serve as vice chair for the 2018-2019 academic year. 

Committee Elections

• Elections & University Nominations Committee (5 vacancies)
  The following were elected by acclamation: Senators McCardle, McKinney, Nachtwey, Palmer, and Pinion.
• Academic Quality Committee (2 vacancies)
  Senators Jones and Sickels were elected by acclamation.
• Board of Governors (1 one-year vacancy)
  Senator Ciocca was elected by acclamation.
• Budget Committee (3 vacancies)
  Senators Bentley, Palmer and Pinion were elected by acclamation.
• Executive Committee (5 vacancies)
  The following were elected by acclamation: Senators Bentley, Bishop-Ross, Callahan, Eser, and Palmer.
• Faculty Rights & Responsibilities (2 vacancies)
  Senators Cogdill and Gossage were elected by acclamation.
• Faculty Welfare Committee (2 vacancies)
  Nominees: Senators Hagan (A), Fleischer (B), Nachtwey (C), Ciocca (D)
  Senators Hagan and Ciocca were elected.

• Information Technology Committee (1 vacancy)
  Senator Fleischer was elected by acclamation.
• Rules Committee (3 vacancies)
  Senators Causey-Upton, Constantine, and Gremp were elected by acclamation.
• COSFL (1 rep & 2 alternates needed)
  Nominees: Senators Eser (A), Fleischer (B), Endonino (C)
  Senator Eser was elected to serve as the COSFL representative, with Senator Fleischer elected as first alternate and Senator Endonino as second alternate.
